Merry Christmas everyone. I hope everyone has had a great Christmas and that the New Year brings many blessings into your lives. Just wanted to update the blog today. I actually found time to video a few solo performances of my own this past week so they are linked on the left under the heading Solo Basement Performances. They could be considered a basement video session since I recorded them in our basement! There are 5 videos so I hope you enjoy them.
The next opportunity to see One More River will be at the MidWinter Bluegrass Festival in Northglenn, CO. We are really looking forward to performing a gospel set on Sunday morning, February 17 at 11 a.m. at the festival. If you are in the area and would like to hear some great bluegrass from a lot of different bands please come on out to the festival. There will be lots of picking and singing. Its one of the best festivals in the nation in the wintertime (or anytime for that matter).
In other news, we (One More River) are also talking about trying to record an album soon. Not sure when it will be ready but I'll let everyone know how things are proceeding and when you could expect to see something.
Well, have a great rest of your Christmas day and Happy New Year.

Hi, welcome to my website. My name is Jody Nelson. I enjoy singing and playing gospel music, particulary gospel bluegrass and folk music. I got a rather late start in life playing stringed instruments, not picking up a guitar until I was 30 years old. Although I consider the guitar as my primary instrument, I also enjoy plinking around on the banjo, mandolin, mountain dulcimer, and hammer dulcimer, the latter two which I built myself. One of these days I'm going to pick up the fiddle which I got a while back and start learning to play something on it as I have time. I have played in our praise band at church for several years and now also play in a gospel bluegrass band called One More River. I have been influenced by a variety of musicians and styles of music - bluegrass, folk, blues, jazz, old-time gospel, and contemporary Christian. One of my favorite things is to take an old hymn and give it a bluegrass/folk flavor. Some of my favorite performers and influences include Norman Blake, Doc Watson, Alison Krauss, Tim O'Brien, Claire Lynch, Front Range, Anne and Pete Sibley, and the Carter Family. My wife, Kathy, ocasionally joins me for duets as well. When all is said and done, I can often be heard to respond after playing a song, "Something like that!" since each time it may be a little different. I hope you enjoy what you find on the page. I'll try to keep it updated with new things.

Hi Everyone,
Its almost Christmas. As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I hope you take time to reflect on how His birth, death, and resurrection affects your life. This fall has been busy with lots of practicing as OMR gets ready to play a couple of venues in December and then at the MidWinter Bluegrass Festival in February. We will be playing at the Cowboy Church at the Rinn UMC near Firestone, CO on Wednesday, December, 12, at 7 p.m. and then at a Christmas celebration at The Church at Woodmoor in Monument, CO on December 22 (not sure of the time yet). We have been learning a few Christmas songs to put into the set list. Then on Sunday, February 17, OMR is playing during the gospel set on the main stage at the MidWinter Bluegrass Festival in Northglenn, CO. So we are excited about that. Hope you can come out to one of the events to see us at some point. Well, have a blessed Christmas and Holiday season and hope to see you soon.
One of these days when I get some more video taken I'll add a few more songs to the website. I also want to record a few of my own solo singing and playing again to add to the site. Hopefully this winter I can find some time to record a few to put up there. Take care.
